Holbrooke’s last words

To me, this is nothing short of a jaw-dropping, practically cinematic moment.

Here is a link to The Washington Post‘s article on Richard Holbrooke. Goes over his career, his tenacity, the respect he has earned as an ambassador. He has been active force of foreign policy since Vietnam.

And, according to The Washington Post

As Mr. Holbrooke was sedated for surgery, family members said, his final words were to his Pakistani surgeon: “You’ve got to stop this war in Afghanistan.”

Forget talking points, triangulation strategies and putting a good face on a rotten situation. One of the most respected ambassadors in our country’s history, laying on his literal death bed, had one thing to say. We need to stop this War.
