Gridlock here, Gridlock there

A group of 54 House Democrats oppose the recently agreed upon Tax deal between the President and the GOP. The opposition to the tax cut plan among most House Democrats (including Barney Frank) is no surprise, but the potential unwillingness of Ms. Pelosi to bring it to the floor could pose a serious problem.

And today the Senate failed to force action to repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, as a part of a larger defense budget package. However, recent development have shown that Senators Lieberman and Susan Collins will introduce a new stand-alone bill to repeal the policy.

Even more cringe inducing, the Senate Republicans are blocking a vote to provide aid to the families of 9/11 responders.

Bad week in Washington, and for our President. And in these dark times, he’s decided to turn to the one man who  can most empathize with the bad fix he’s in. Details of their upcoming lunch are here.
