This is purely a guess. But for those who have followed Rahm Emanuel’s career knows he’s a tough Chicagoan tactician who hates having to deal with expletive, expletive, expletive gutless politicians in both the Republican party and his own.
He just got an exit strategy. Richard M. Daley is not running for re-election for Chicago Mayor in 2011, a job he’s had since 1989. I fully expect Rahm to resign as White House Chief of Staff after the mid-terms and run for mayor in his hometown.
Rahm hasn’t hinted so much at doing this, as outright saying it here.
