Anthony Weiner of New York

Anthony Weiner took the podium on the floor of the House of Representatives last night. Boy howdy.  What was being discussed?  A $7.4 billion dollar bill to provide aid to rescue workers who were sickened by toxins after the 9/11 attacks.  The bill has widespread support since without it the heroes of 9/11 would be left to struggle the court system in coming years to get the care they need.  However, to ensure that no amendments would be attached, this bill needs 2/3 votes in the house – the Republicans voted against it. That is why Weiner is so furious.

At age 45 and recently married, Weiner is 6-term Congressman and represents New York’s 9th District, which covers Queens and parts of Brooklyn. Obviously aide to 9/11 rescue workers is a personal issue.
