Gallup just released a poll that 6 in 10 workers between the age of 18-34 do NOT believe Social Security will be there for them when they retire. I’m in that age group, and I’m with the majority. When it comes to Social Security, the skeptical side of my brain immediately takes over. One of the main problems in Washington is the appearance of not thinking long-term, and SS is a long term situation that we think will likely kick the bucket. Notice on the chart below as soon as W. is elected president the youth doubt Social Security will be around, unfortunately Obama has yet to stop that distrust.
If you’re 34 years old in 2010, you turn 70 in 2046.
