Jobless Benefits Clears Senate

60-39. Senator Carter Goodwin, replacing the late Robert Byrd of West Virginia, was sworn in today and cast a filibuster breaking vote for the jobless benefits bill. Good news for the President. Better news for roughly 2.5 million Americans getting extra aide in these economic times.

Good new for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who just recently pulled ahead in the polls in his re-election bid.
