I’ve got mixed feelings on some of these…
Javier Bardem is one of the best actors in the world. Alejandro González Iñárritu has made his directorial mark on tough, gritty, human relationship dramas to mixed results. I love Amores Perros, respect 21 Grams (though if you put the film in chronological order it’d be preposterous) and couldn’t get through Babel. This film won Bardem the Best Actor trophy at this years Cannes Film Festival.
The more I see of The Social Network the more I see it as a pompous, over-wrought drama about a pompous egomaniac. I hope my initial reactions are wrong. Fincher’s a talented filmmaker, but I haven’t liked a move of his in eleven years.
and here’s another one starring Galfianakis. It just screams niche-indie film, but I’m hopeful.
