Unpaid Internships, Contd

The NY Times had an article out this weekend focusing on the growing concern about intern “abuse” at various companies. This would include interns performing remedial tasks, like janatorial work, as well as being exempt from normal employee benefits. Key quote:

“A serious problem surrounding unpaid interns is they are often not considered employees and therefore are not protected by employment discrimination laws,” she said.
