No permanent replacement for Stephanopolous has been found, just a string of guest hosts. Political consultant Matthew Dowd takes the chair this Sunday. However, Politico has a story that Christine Amanpour, the famed and very will-respected CNN foreign correspondent, is “in the mix of external candidates ABC is considering.”
Bold. I like it. My gut tells me they’re going to pick a female. Every single Sunday morning news show host on every major network / cable news network has been a white male. I have no hard, firm reasoning on why I think ABC will go that direction, just a hunch.
Other external contenders (we can suppose) would be: Gwen Ifill on PBS, Rachel Maddow on MSNBC, Campbell Brown on CNN, Andrea Mitchell on NBC/MSNBC and Jan Crawford on CBS.
