Music Wednesday

Modern country music is one of my pet peeves. I realize it’s somewhat cliche and pretentious to complain that what comes out of Nashville these days isn’t “real” country music, but, well, it’s not.

Now, if you were to ask me for an example of what is real country music, I’d have to put Billy Joe Shaver at the top of the list. So imagine my delight when, in the middle of Crazy Heart, Robert Duvall busts out an a cappella version of Shaver’s “Live Forever.” One more reason you should all see that movie. To be honest, the live performances of the song are the best, but this studio recording ain’t bad.
