The Decade: Best Movie Year

I’d say it’s a close call between 2003 and 2007.

2003 (in no order):  LOTR: Return of the King, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean, X2: X-Men United, Something’s Gotta Give, Lost in Translation, In America, Seabuscuit, Mystic River, Master and Commander, Old School, Kill Bill: Vol 1, Big Fish, Bad Santa, Open Range, 28 Days Later, Machstick Men, The Fog of War, 21 Grams, Elf, Whale Rider, Love Actually, City of God, Capturing the Friedmans.

2007 (in no order):  No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Bourne Ultimatum, Knocked Up, Michael Clayton, Juno, Eastern Promises, Into the Wild, Assassination of Jesse James, Ratatouille, La Vie en Rose, American Gangster, Once, Superbad, Hot Fuzz, Charlie Wilson’s War, 3:10 to Yuma, Sweeney Tood, No End in Sight, Taxi to the Darkside, Gone Baby Gone, The Lives of Others, Lars and the Real Girl, Zodiac, Breach, Grindhouse

For now I vote for 2007. The Coens, Paul T. Anderson, Tony Gilroy, Sean Penn, Judd Apatow, Edgar Wright, David Cronenberg, Paul Greengrass all at the top of their game.
