Why we’re broke

Priorities. Or lack thereof. I don’t want to put on my judgmental cap on, Lord knows how much I’ve spent on seeing movies and the accompanying snacks. But when we as a collective society are hurting and the unemployment rate hits above 10%. Do you think we should spend less money, of all things, on VIDEO GAMES!?!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released last week to stores and, according to The LA Times has sold about 8 million units generating record-breaking sales of $550 million dollars. That’s the first week. $59.99 a pop. The previous installment sold 14.4 million units in 2007.

  1. Is this any less appalling?

  2. I hear you. In fact you could say that film’s gross is a worse scenario because while it’s less money, you are still paying $10 to be disappointed for 2 1/2 hours. As for paying for the video game you can play that for hours and hours and hours on end.
