Costs of War

For new troops in Afghanistan. We’re looking at $1M per each additional soldier. Multiply that by Gen. McChrystal’s request of 40,000 more troops and that’s $40 billion.

  1. For anyone keeping track, $40 billion a year is almost half the cost of the health care reform bills in the Senate and the House. (They both cost roughly $90 billion per year.)

Think about that. The money that we would spend on this latest (mis)adventure in Afghanistan could get us halfway to health care reform all by itself.
