Thank You Movie Gods

We try not to post this kind of stuff, but how can one not get excited when Variety reports that the next Coen Brothers film will be an adaptation of “True Grit”, starring Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn (made famous by John Wayne) and will co-star Matt Damon (in the Glenn Campbell part) and Josh Brolin as the main villain (the Jeff Corey part). No word yet on who is playing the young girl.

On a side note, I am a fan of Westerns, but not a fan of True Grit. John Wayne does give a good performance, but the film is very much one of the 1960’s (the music, the cinematography, the wardrobe) and Glenn Campbell’s performance is one of the most irritating things I’ve ever seen. The Coens have been quoted as saying they are going back to the source material and ignoring the previous film. Comes out late next year, and I cannot wait.
