Legendary film composer Ennio Morricone was supposed to conduct at the Hollywood Bowl this Sunday, but the event was canceled earlier today. Jeff and I had tickets and are quite bummed out. It was going to be Morricone’s first concert ever in Los Angeles, at age 81.

Despite that it’s been parodied so many times over the years, Morricone’s theme to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is one of the most recognizable film scores ever. The main score to Once Upon a Time in the West is equally epic. A few others Morricone has scored are The Mission, The Untouchables and Cinema Pardiso.

Here is a LA Weekly article with interviews from notable film composers/musicians about Morricone’s influence on music.
