Speaking of Healthcare

Our friends at the Economic Policy Institute have published an article on the findings from the latest Census Bureau report in regards to Health Care coverage.

In short: There are more uninsured Americans in 2008 than 2007. 2009 will be much worse than 2008. Less employers provide health insurance coverage to employees. The number of Americans with Employer-sponsored health insurance has declined for the eighth year in a row.

For more happy news you should read the whole article.

The EPI also has an article out about median incomes in 2008 and the poverty increase. Most devesating stats:

  • In 2008, more than one in three – 35.3% – of all people living in poverty were children.
  • 14.1 million children live in poverty in the richest nation on earth.
